Genasun 12V 5A Lead-Acid MPPT Charge Controller PCB for OEM
Compact plug-in MPPT solar charging for embedded 12V lead-acid battery systems up to 65W.
DESCRIPTION
Genasun GV-5-MOD Lead-Acid MPPT Charge Controller
The Genasun GV-5-MOD Lead-Acid MPPT Charge Controller is a compact, board-level solar regulator designed for embedded and OEM-style 12V lead-acid battery systems. It takes the proven GV-5 MPPT controller platform and packages it as a plug-in PCB module with a 24-pin shrouded header, making it well suited to solar-powered products where space, low standby consumption and repeatable integration matter.
This GV-5-MOD lead-acid version is intended for 12V lead-acid, AGM, gel, sealed and flooded batteries. It supports up to 65W of recommended panel power, 5A rated battery output current and a continuous 5A load output with low voltage disconnect. For applications such as environmental monitoring, small off-grid instruments, kiosks, asset tracking equipment, pay stations, compact portable power products and remote electronics, it provides efficient solar charging without the bulk of a cased regulator.
Why choose this MPPT module?
Genasun’s MPPT tracking is designed to keep working effectively in changing solar conditions. The manufacturer specifies 99+% typical tracking efficiency, a 15Hz MPPT tracking speed and 94% to 99.85% typical electrical efficiency. That makes the GV-5-MOD a strong fit where every watt-hour from a small panel counts, especially in partially shaded or variable-light installations.
- 12V lead-acid charging: Designed for 12V lead-acid, AGM, gel, sealed and flooded battery systems.
- 5A solar charging: Rated for 5A battery output current with up to 65W recommended panel power.
- Plug-in module format: Uses a 24-pin dual-row shrouded, polarised male header for direct PCB or cable integration.
- Load output with LVD: Supports a continuous 5A load output with low voltage disconnect and reconnect behaviour.
- Low power draw: Manufacturer specifies 0.150mA operating consumption and 0.125mA night consumption.
- Compact PCB design: Product dimensions are approximately 83.2 x 47.8 x 12.2mm, with an approximate product weight of 28g.
Designed for embedded solar products
The GV-5-MOD is not a conventional wall-mount regulator. It is intended to be integrated into a host product or enclosure, with electrical connections made through the header pins. The module includes internal LED indicators, plus outputs for external status LEDs and a charge profile select input. For product designers and system builders, this helps reduce wiring, simplify assembly and keep the solar charging section compact.
The lead-acid model provides a multi-stage charge profile, with default and secondary charge profile values published by the manufacturer. The default profile is suitable for gel and SLA batteries, while the secondary profile is listed for AGM and flooded batteries. Battery specifications should be checked against the published voltage setpoints before installation.
Installation notes
The official manual states that the GV-5-MOD does not include a fuse, so suitable overcurrent protection must be provided as part of the installation. The battery cable should be protected by a fast-acting fuse or circuit breaker of 10A or less, close to the battery terminal or power distribution point. The manual also notes that the module should not be exposed to water and should be installed with adequate airflow, with outdoor use requiring a protective enclosure.
For compact 12V lead-acid solar products that need efficient charging, very low standby draw and PCB-level integration, the Genasun GV-5-MOD-Pb provides a clean, professional MPPT charging solution ready to build into a well-designed system.

Damage caused by unsuitable mounting, inadequate ventilation, moisture, water ingress, dust, corrosion, excessive heat, vibration, insufficient clearance, unsuitable substrate selection or other installation environment issues is not a manufacturing defect and is not covered by this warranty.
System Protection and Fault Isolation
The installer must incorporate suitable protective devices and design measures appropriate to the product and installation type. This may include correctly rated fuses, circuit breakers, isolators, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, reverse-polarity protection, surge protection, correct cable sizing and other protective devices required by standards or best practice.
The installer is responsible for ensuring that a fault or failure in one component does not cause cascading damage to other components. Damage to Genasun products caused by inadequate system protection, poor fault isolation, incorrect protection settings or missing safety devices is not covered by this warranty.
Service Accessibility Requirement
Products must be installed in a manner that allows reasonable access for inspection, testing, servicing, removal and replacement. We are not responsible for additional labour, structural modification, access equipment, removal of fixtures, cabinetry, panels, flooring, trim, sealants, adhesives or other costs arising from installation methods that restrict reasonable access to the product.
