DESCRIPTION
Relay type
- Contacts are open when the coil is unpowered which is defined as "1 Form A" or SPST-NO (single-pole, single-throw, normally open).
- Note: the contact surfaces on contactors wear down with every closure & opening of the contacts. Wear down on contact closure can be reduced by pre-charging the load circuit before closing the main contacts, particularly for high capacitance, high voltage loads. Arcing on opening the contacts can be eliminated by prior discharge of inductive circuits, eg alternators plus including flyback diode(s) and avalanche diodes to provide a circuit through which energy from inductors can be discharged safely.
