48V Solar Charge Controller with 4 Independent Trackers & Bluetooth
Victron 12/24V 5A BlueSolar PWM-Light Solar Cha...DESCRIPTION
Advanced High-Voltage Solar Control for 48V Systems
Optimise your large-scale off-grid or grid-connected solar power system with the highly capable Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200-MC4. Engineered for 48V battery banks, this advanced charge controller handles up to 450VDC PV input and delivers an impressive 200A charge current. By supporting longer strings of solar panels, it allows you to significantly reduce the size and cost of your solar cabling while maximising overall system efficiency.
Four Independent MPPT Trackers
One of the most significant challenges in large solar installations is managing shading and varied panel orientations. This controller features four separate Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPTs), allowing you to connect four distinct solar arrays. Each tracker operates independently to find the optimal power point, ensuring that a shaded or differently angled array does not drag down the performance of the rest of your system. This ultra-fast tracking technology adapts rapidly to changing light conditions, capturing every possible watt of energy.
Streamlined MC4 Connections
Installation is simplified with standard Staubli MC4 connectors on the PV inputs. These secure, weather-resistant connections ensure a reliable link between your high-voltage solar strings and the controller, minimising installation time and reducing the risk of poor contact.
Robust Safety and Galvanic Isolation
When working with high DC voltages, safety is paramount. The SmartSolar MPPT RS incorporates full galvanic isolation between the PV input and the battery connections. Additionally, it continuously monitors the PV isolation resistance. If it detects a fault or drop in resistance, the unit will safely cease operation and trigger an alert, protecting both your equipment and the operators. The heavy-duty steel enclosure and IP21 protection rating further ensure durability in demanding environments.
Intelligent Monitoring and Connectivity
Stay in complete control of your energy system with built-in Bluetooth connectivity. Using the VictronConnect app on your smartphone, you can easily configure settings, view live data, and monitor historical performance. For comprehensive system integration, the inclusion of VE.Can and VE.Direct ports allows seamless communication with Victron GX devices, enabling remote monitoring and data logging via the VRM portal.

MPPT Operating Voltage Range Constraints:
- Battery voltage limits PV VOC.
- PV VOC should not exceed 8 times the battery float voltage.
- Example: A 52.8 V float voltage results in a maximum PV VOC of 422.4 V.
- Refer to the product manual for more details.
-
PV Array and Short Circuit Current:
- A high short circuit current may damage the controller if PV array is connected in reverse polarity.
-
Maximum PV Array Calculation:
- Max. 450 VOC leads to approximately 360 Vmpp.
- Therefore, the maximum PV array is around 360 V x 20 A = 7200 Wp.
-
PV Isolation and MPPT RS Functionality:
- MPPT RS tests for sufficient resistive isolation between PV+ and GND, and PV- and GND.
- If resistance is below the threshold, the unit stops charging, displays an error, and sends an error signal to the GX device (if connected) for audible and email notification.
-
Programmable Relay:
- Can be set for general alarm, DC under voltage, or genset start/stop function.
- DC rating: 4 A up to 35 VDC and 1 A up to 70 VDC.
-
Compatibility with VE.Smart Networks:
- The MPPT RS is currently not compatible with VE.Smart Networks.
-
Charger Set-Point and Output Voltage:
- Float and absorption set-point can be set to a maximum of 60 V.
- Output voltage at the charger terminals can be higher due to temperature compensation and voltage drop over the battery cables.
- Maximum output current reduces linearly from full current at 60 V to 5A at 62 V.
- Equalization voltage can be set to a maximum of 62V.
- Equalization current percentage can be set to a maximum of 6%.
