The Wakespeed WS500 Pro represents the next generation in smart alternator regulation, building upon the proven performance of the original WS500 with the addition of Bluetooth connectivity. Designed for marine, RV, and off-grid power systems, this advanced alternator controller delivers precision multi-PID engine control to safely and effectively charge 12V, 24V, and 48V battery banks. Whether you are running traditional lead-acid, AGM, or advanced LiFePO4 lithium arrays, the WS500 Pro optimises your mobile power generation.

Precision Multi-PID Charging Engine

Unlike standard voltage-only regulators, the WS500 Pro actively manages charging based on a combination of system voltage, current acceptance, and real-time temperatures. By monitoring the alternator and battery temperatures, it actively regulates output to prevent critical over-temperature conditions rather than simply reacting after a fault occurs. This ensures safe, continuous operation while maximising charging efficiency based on battery C-rates and system loads.

Wireless Configuration via Bluetooth

The built-in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module transforms the setup and monitoring experience. Using the Wakespeed Configuration and Monitoring Utility App, installers and end-users can wirelessly configure charging profiles, update firmware, and monitor real-time performance directly from a smartphone. This completely removes the need for physical cable connections during initial setup or diagnostic checks in hard-to-reach engine bays.

Advanced Alternator Protection

Alternators working hard to charge large lithium battery banks can rapidly overheat. The WS500 Pro utilises active temperature sensing to incrementally reduce alternator field output, keeping the alternator within safe operating temperatures and extending its lifespan. Coupled with Zero Output Technology, the regulator intelligently limits the output to match active DC house loads once your battery bank reaches full capacity, preventing overcharging and reducing unnecessary engine drag.

Seamless CANbus and BMS Integration

Modern mobile power systems require deep integration. The WS500 Pro features robust CANbus communication capabilities, supporting industry protocols including RV-C, NMEA2000, and Victron VE.reg. Essential Installation Requirements

Please note that the WS500 Pro unit is supplied without a wiring harness. To create a fully functional system, you will require the following additional components:

  • A compatible Wakespeed wire harness (which includes the essential 0.3m alternator temperature sensor).
  • If integrating into a Victron Energy environment, a specific Victron CANbus Crossover Cable is necessary.

Regulation Capability Charge controller is uniquely capable of driving alternator output based on a combination of three primary criteria: voltage, current, and temperature goals / limits – making it possible to configure charging to specific battery manufacturer recommendations.

Current: Yes – Via amp shunt. Can be calibrated to support most shunts. 500A / 50mV is default.
